Privacy policy.
PixelPlace has no accounts. This policy tells you what data the site collects, how the site uses it, and how long the site keeps it.
The data that we collect
- A cookie. The cookie holds a random visitor ID. The site uses it to keep your place when you reload the page. The cookie stays for one year.
- Your settings. Your browser keeps your settings, such as your color and your sound levels. The site sends your color to the server, so that other visitors can see it.
- What you do in a place. While you are in a place, the server keeps your position, your waves and your lanterns. Other visitors can see them. They cannot see your name, because the site does not know it.
- Technical data. Our servers record data about each request, such as your internet address and the time. If the page has an error, it sends the error, the page address and the name of your browser.
How we use the data
We use the data to operate the site, to stop abuse, to keep the site secure and to repair errors. We do not use it for advertisements.
How long we keep the data
The server deletes what you did in a place a short time after you leave. Lanterns stay for about six hours, without the name of the sender. Server records and error reports stay for a limited time, and then we delete them. PixelPlace has no database.
Who gets the data
We do not sell your data. We share it only with companies that help us operate the site, such as our hosting company and our error-tracking service, or when the law tells us to.
Lounges on other sites
Some sites, for example lsd.law, show a PixelPlace lounge on their pages. If you are signed in on that site, it sends us a code for you, and it can send a color. The code is not your name or your email. Only that site can connect the code to you. From us, the site gets only the number of people in its lounge.
Your choices
To remove the cookie and your settings, clear the data for this site in your browser. Most of the data that we keep does not identify you, so usually we cannot find data about you. For questions, write to hello@pxlplc.com.
